Organic Food

Food is an emotion. It is the second consequential source of living and very important to the functioning of the body system. Everything that we intake impacts our body system, which is directly proportional to our lifestyle.

We are prone to a series of questions when the table turns to organic fruits and vegetables. Is organic food worth the expenses? Does it balance a healthier life? Are they rich in nutrients? As they say, “Nature is so smart to make food as medicine.” In today’s world, organic products have become the definition of the modern world.

Why is organic better for the planet?
Organic works with nature, not against it.Intensive agriculture causes soil erosion, chemical run-off into water systems and can mean some weeds and insects become resistant to herbicides and pesticides. Organic farming on the other hand doesn't rely on synthetic or petroleum-based pesticides or fertilizers. It significantly reduces water and soil contamination. Wildlife can thrive. Don't you think organic is a breath of fresh air?

Combating climate change
Agriculture plays a big part in climate change and is responsible for around one third of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. If half of all farming in the European Union converted to organic by 2030, we could cut almost a quarter (23%) of the EU's greenhouse gas emissions simply by increased soil carbon sequestration a reduced use of mineral fertilisers.

This is because healthy soils are a major store of carbon, containing three times as much carbon as the atmosphere and five times as much as forests! If all UK farming was converted to organic, at least 1.3 million tonnes of carbon would be taken up by the soil each year - the equivalent of taking nearly 1 million cars off the road!

They've been defined by independent institutions or non-profit organizations that have set meaningful criteria that companies must prove they've met in order to use the eco-label in question. When you shop, look for these "third party" certifications to back up the claims a company makes regarding the environmental and human health benefits of their products.

Conclusion
Organic fruits and vegetables are natural gifts. Healthy food has an endless advantage, as they come in the package of natural health and flavour from the hands of Mother Nature.

Having nature’s product is itself a delight. Organic foods are not expensive to culture, as it demands a small place to cultivate (house farming). It can be cultivated in your home which requires minimal investment and expense.

Remember, your health is an investment, not an expense.
